George & Karen King

Biography

From as early as she can remember, Karen attended Central Baptist Church in Brantford. Karen received the Lord as a young girl in her parents’ home, and was later baptized as a follower of Christ at Central. George came from a nominally Christian home to accept Christ as Saviour at the age of 19 through a fellow-employee’s testimony. He was later baptized at Pinegrove Fellowship Baptist Church in Bracebridge, Ontario.

George and Karen first met as students at London Baptist Bible College and Seminary (now Heritage College and Seminary), and were married in 1980. After graduation in 1982, George served for 2 years as a pastoral intern at Calvary Baptist Church, Guelph, Ontario.

Since 1984, George and Karen King have served with ABWE Canada as Christian workers amongst Muslims. From 1987 to 1999 they lived in a Muslim-majority nation in South Asia, engaged in church planting, leadership training and Bible translation. From 1999 to 2008 the Kings were “missionaries-at-large” to the Muslim world. During that time Karen obtained credentials in teaching English and put her new skills into practice. George taught and advised on how to reach Muslims and founded an online Bible school geared for Muslim students. From 2008 to 2023, they lived in Birmingham, England, serving in a small church in a multi-ethnic community. George provided leadership for the church while Karen taught English to immigrant women. In 2024, George and Karen joined the Open Toronto Initiative to reach out to unreached people groups in the Greater Toronto Area.
