George & Karen King

September update

Praise…

  • An important Prayer & Vision Retreat took place over 3 days in August to bring focus and clarity to the aims of the Open Toronto Initiative (OTI). Karen and George met together with mission executives, potential OTI team members, and possible future ministry partners to talk and pray for God’s direction and provision as the OTI continues to develop.
  • A young Rohingya Muslim family with Canadian government sponsorship have been placed in our neighbourhood very close to us. Repeatedly over decades of time, Rohingyas have been forced to flee persecution in Myanmar and seek refuge in crowded UN camps in southeastern Bangladesh. Some, like this family, are given a new start in a peace-loving place like Canada. This family is truly blessed.
  • George’s new urologic oncologist / surgeon has mapped out a 5-step program culminating with surgery to remove his prostate on (or before) December 13th.

Pray…

  • Pray for George’s cancer treatment. A bone scan was originally scheduled for Nov 4th but was moved ahead to Sept 30th due to a cancellation. Providing the other necessary steps are done, the surgery date could also be moved forward if there is a cancellation. Timing is in God’s hands.
  • Pray for OTI team members “B&E” who are working through the immigration process to come to Canada and serve alongside us in the Greater Toronto Area. Pray also for several others who are in various stages of application to join hands with us on the OTI team.
  • Pray for the salvation of the Rohingya family mentioned above. They don’t understand English yet, but they do understand us because of our past background. Imagine their surprise when this old white couple began speaking to them in Bengali!

We are always grateful for your prayers, support and encouragement,
George and Karen King
