George & Karen King

SEPTEMBER 2025

Praise

  • George’s 6-month cancer checkup in August confirmed that he remains cancer-free. His return to full health and strength has gone well.
  • Our nearby Rohingya family are growing dear to us. They are very appreciative of how our church family has helped them in their time of need. Government child benefits are finally coming for their 3 children, after many months of waiting.

Prayer

  • George will represent the Open Toronto Initiative as he attends the M3 Conference on September 15th and 16th in Cambridge and Toronto for pastors and church leaders. Pray for potential partners in reaching the many unreached people groups in the GTA.
  • George and others will start organizing several multi-day Toronto Vision Trips in 2026 to help church leaders and members see how God has placed the world at our doorstep.
  • Salvation of the Rohingya family, as well as sufficient income for daily living.
  • George has a cystoscopy on October 22nd to check on the health of his bladder.
  • George’s brother is getting over a kind of bone marrow cancer but is suffering serious complications. May God heal him and grant the peace that comes from knowing Jesus.

Thank you for your prayers,
George and Karen King

July 2025

  • The father in our neighbour Rohingya family had a heart attack and stroke two weeks ago. He received great medical care and is now recovering well at home. God used this trial to bring us closer to the family. They have severe financial needs that we cannot meet but they are grateful for our friendship with no family nearby. Pray that salvation will come to each member of this family of 5 in the Lord’s timing.
  • Continue to pray for the Open Toronto Initiative to gain momentum. We still need more workers willing to serve unreached people groups in the GTA.
  • Continue to pray that B and E can come to Canada and join the team.
  • We plan to travel to Tennessee to participate in ABWE’s annual missionary enrichment conference and will be away from July 20th to 25th.

Thank you for your prayers,
George and Karen King

June 2025 update

  • Please pray for the practical and spiritual needs of Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh who are currently living in our neighbourhood. Pray for us in our interactions with them since they speak no English and our Bangla is rusty (we left Bangladesh 25 years ago).
  • Please pray for the Open Toronto Initiative to get off the ground. We need more workers willing to commit to living and ministering in areas with high concentrations of unreached people groups.
  • Pray specifically that B and E can get their papers to come to Canada to reach Muslims here. They already know the languages needed and are gifted evangelists.
  • Praise & prayer – George has recovered well from his cancer surgeries. The next check-in with the oncologist is in August. Karen is on meds for high blood pressure and AFib.
  • Praise – Karen is tutoring a few students in phonics at the local school one day a week.

Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel,

George and Karen

February 2025 update

ALL CLEAR!

Last Tuesday, February 11th the doctor went over post-surgery results and gave George the ALL CLEAR! The cancer is gone and he won’t need to return again until 6 months from now for a checkup. Praise the Lord with us for His mercy and lovingkindness.

New Team Members for Open Toronto Initiative (OTI)

We are pleased to welcome Rick and Linda Reed to the OTI team! They bring a wealth of ministry experience and desire to equip local churches to reach the unreached in their own communities and in the Greater Toronto Area. Pray for the Reeds, and pray for God to keep growing the OTI team.
