Home Assignment, Reunions and Mourning

We praise God for the 6 weeks spent in Ontario this summer. We kept pretty busy, spending time with family, including a weekend away with our kids and grandkids (20 of us) at a farm B&B, honouring Karen’s mom on the one year anniversary of her entry into heaven, celebrating a granddaughter’s 4th birthday and lots more! It was good to see George’s youngest brother and his family after 3 years. We reported at supporting churches (North Broadway in Tillsonburg, Otterville Baptist, Pinegrove in Bracebridge, and Calvary in Burlington) and a Chinese life group from Grandview Kitchener, attended a service at our sending church (Central, Brantford); spent time with our new ABWE Canadian president and his wife (John and Jacky Taylor) and had a zoom interview with the ABWE missionary care team. It was good (truly!) to finally get to the dentist again after 3 years. And we enjoyed being able to spend some time with several dear friends.

Since returning to the UK on September 12th, Karen has made contact with “her ladies” who are eager to get back to classes. These will begin September 20. An Afghan student says she has 4 new ladies who want to join!

George has been suffering from a bad cold this week delaying his usual “hitting the ground running” as well as his upcoming eye surgery.

Pray for the UK as they mourn the loss of our much loved and respected queen. May her testimony of faith in Jesus inspire others to believe.

We appreciate your prayers and support,

George and Karen King

June 2022 Update

Jesus Christ lived obscurely for most most of his life, and never travelled far. He was maligned and rejected by many, though he had done no wrong. And yet, billions of people now follow his teaching and find in him the guiding light for their lives.
I AM ONE OF THEM…
(Queen Elizabeth II, 2016)

Platinum Jubilee Outreach

On Sunday afternoon, June 5th, the street on which our church is located plans a street party to celebrate 70 years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. We have been asked to speak a few words and sing a few songs for the event on behalf of the church. We are also offering special commemorative photo books that share the gospel through the Queen’s life story and Christian faith. In addition, special Platinum Jubilee Gospels of John are available, explaining the way of salvation and giving the opportunity to register one’s decision to receive Christ through social media. There are many such events planned throughout the UK with many churches and ministries seeking to make the most of a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Home Assignment

From July 28th until September 11th we plan to be in Canada for the purpose of reporting to churches and to visit with family.

We appreciate your prayers and support,

March 2022 Update

Spring has sprung!

For TV weather announcers in the UK, March 1st marks the beginning of “Meteorological Spring”. Truly, some signs of spring are here–snowdrops, crocuses (or croci?), and daffodils are making their appearance. The days are noticeably getting longer considering we are at about the same latitude as James Bay!

Covid Rules Gone!

The UK government recently withdrew all legislation relating to Covid-19 for the British public going about their daily lives. Still, many people are continuing to mask up and be careful, as the virus is still around and many people suffer from it. The decision is  meant to allow society to get back to normal. But then…

All Eyes on Ukraine!

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is disturbing not only for the obvious humanitarian implications for Ukraine citizens, but also for the unimaginable possibilities for all of us if the conflict widens. So we pray for peace and justice to come quickly.

Otherwise, life and ministry go on as ‘normal’ as they can. If you are interested, you can contact us to request a link to a 5 minute video summarizing what happened in the last 12 months or so.
