June 2022 Update

Jesus Christ lived obscurely for most most of his life, and never travelled far. He was maligned and rejected by many, though he had done no wrong. And yet, billions of people now follow his teaching and find in him the guiding light for their lives.
I AM ONE OF THEM…
(Queen Elizabeth II, 2016)

Platinum Jubilee Outreach

On Sunday afternoon, June 5th, the street on which our church is located plans a street party to celebrate 70 years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. We have been asked to speak a few words and sing a few songs for the event on behalf of the church. We are also offering special commemorative photo books that share the gospel through the Queen’s life story and Christian faith. In addition, special Platinum Jubilee Gospels of John are available, explaining the way of salvation and giving the opportunity to register one’s decision to receive Christ through social media. There are many such events planned throughout the UK with many churches and ministries seeking to make the most of a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Home Assignment

From July 28th until September 11th we plan to be in Canada for the purpose of reporting to churches and to visit with family.

We appreciate your prayers and support,

March 2022 Update

Spring has sprung!

For TV weather announcers in the UK, March 1st marks the beginning of “Meteorological Spring”. Truly, some signs of spring are here–snowdrops, crocuses (or croci?), and daffodils are making their appearance. The days are noticeably getting longer considering we are at about the same latitude as James Bay!

Covid Rules Gone!

The UK government recently withdrew all legislation relating to Covid-19 for the British public going about their daily lives. Still, many people are continuing to mask up and be careful, as the virus is still around and many people suffer from it. The decision is  meant to allow society to get back to normal. But then…

All Eyes on Ukraine!

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is disturbing not only for the obvious humanitarian implications for Ukraine citizens, but also for the unimaginable possibilities for all of us if the conflict widens. So we pray for peace and justice to come quickly.

Otherwise, life and ministry go on as ‘normal’ as they can. If you are interested, you can contact us to request a link to a 5 minute video summarizing what happened in the last 12 months or so.

Praise & Prayer

Praise

  1. We have prayed many months for a woman with a very aggressive form of cancer, to now receive news that she is cancer free!
  2. Remembrance Sunday’s church-led open-air service at the local war memorial brought hundreds of local people out for the first time in 2 years.
  3. Our annual outreach conference went very well, offering both in-person and virtual options for participants from various nations.

Prayer

  1. One of Karen’s ladies has contracted tuberculosis. Pray for healing.
  2. This week George begins to meet for Bible study with a young man showing great potential for Christian leadership and ministry.
  3. Plans for a new church building are stuck in limbo. May the will of the Lord be done.

Praise & Prayer

Praise God that:

  • Karen has been able to resume teaching her English classes again!
  • Over 54% of all people in the UK have now had their first vaccination against coronavirus, and the vast majority of vulnerable people have had their second vaccination. We are glad to report that we have been fully vaccinated!
  • We are still in the running to obtain the site of the former leisure centre for a new church development.

Please pray for:

  • Grace in the eyes of the various authorities in city council as we work through the complex process of obtaining the land for the future church.
  • Wisdom as we inch towards a return to a more normal way of doing ministry. Concerns are rising over the recent upsurge of the Indian variant of coronavirus here in the UK.
  • Spiritual impact on those we serve for the sake of the gospel.

For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord,
with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.

– 2 Corinthians 4:5

We appreciate you,
