April 2011 Update

NEW GRANDBABY!

As I write this, Karen and I are in Evansburg, Alberta with our new grandson Simeon Wierzbicki. He arrived at 8am Monday morning, just as we were leaving for the airport to fly out to Alberta from Toronto. He weighs in at 7lbs, 1oz and you can view his pics on either Karen’s or my Facebook. Since leaving England one week ago today we have also been able to meet our other new grandson, Ransom King (“Handsome Ransom”) and get reacquainted with his older sister Ebony. Later today, I will get to meet Simeon’s older sister, 17-month-old granddaughter Sophia Wierzbicki for the very first time.

MARRIAGE, MINI FURLOUGH AND MANY HOME PROJECTS

May 14th is the day our youngest daughter, Angelie, marries Aaron Hamill in Kitchener, Ontario. We look forward to this special event!

We plan to spend quality time visiting friends and family, and speaking in churches for the next 3 months before returning to England. We also have several overdue home repairs, renovations, and upgrades to do while we are in Brantford. The list includes fixing leaky faucets, replacing a dead washer and dryer, drywall repairs, preparing the house for possible renters, and on top of that, obtaining a reliable vehicle for inter-city ministry travel.

WEBSITE WOES

Speaking of renovations… we are undertaking a major revitalization of the Al-Kitab Scripture Research Institute website which has been crippled for some time now. It was cutting edge technology ten years ago when it was launched but now it is woefully behind the times. We have already paid an initial deposit of over $2,000 to get the regeneration work going, and are trusting the Lord for an additional $6,500 to complete the project. We hear from new inquirers on a regular basis even with the problems the site is now experiencing, and believe that it is important that the work continue into the future. If you would like to donate to this specifically, just include a notation that it is for the Kings’ website ministry.

SUPPORT LEVEL

Speaking of donations, God has met our needs continually through the generosity of his people. Our monthly support level is officially at 89% translating to a deficit of $775 per month. We thank the Lord for our supporters and those who pray for us. God takes good care of us through you. We continually sense the power of your prayers in our lives and ministries. Thank you!

February 2011 Update

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

This is such an encouraging verse, when you serve God, but do not see many evident results. We continue with the Men’s ESL conversation class on Monday evenings with a small group of men. Stay and Play on Tuesday mornings has added another mum to its roster but it also remains small – but enjoyable! The Ladies Only ESL classes on Wednesday and Thursday mornings has been an excellent way of connecting with many Pakistani ladies from our neighbourhood. When Karen visited in a home, she met the friend of the lady she was visiting who consequently joined the ESL class bringing along with her another friend.

The Pilates exercise class Thursday evenings in our church hall is another avenue for making friendships with people in our community while at the same time getting fit!

A new young woman has been attending Sunday morning services along with her 2 young children. Marital problems have caused her to cry out for help. Please pray for her and her family. We are enjoying having her children in the Sunday School.

A Nigerian mom in our congregation is struggling to raise her 2 teenage children on her own. Pray for her. She has expressed interest in baptism.

Pray for the youth in our church. A core group are regularly attending the new youth group Sunday afternoons but they are several young people in the congregation who attend but remain aloof and hard against the gospel, though their parents are faithful believers and are very concerned for their children. There are also several unsaved spouses.

A new grandson, Ransom Claude King, was added to our family on January 2nd. We look forward to meeting him and seeing his big sister, Ebony (parents Adam and Autumn King) when we return to Canada on April 12th, just in time for Karen’s dad’s 81st birthday on April 13th. Then we will fly to Alberta so “Poppa” can meet Sophie (Amy and David Wierzbicki) and help out with the new baby who is due April 22.

We will then return to Ontario to help out with the prep for our youngest daughter, Angelie’s wedding. She will marry Aaron Hamill from Kitchener, Ontario on May 14th.

Alisa and her husband, Adam Gagne, will return from their ministry in Malawi in time for the wedding. And of course, we look forward to spending time with our younger son, Aaron, and his girlfriend, Samantha, while we are at home.

We plan to stay until the end of July, so are available to share our ministry during this time. Please let us know if you would be interested in having us come.

Once again, we are available for speaking, sharing and reporting from the beginning of May until the end of July 2011.

Thank you for sticking with us during these times of difficulty,

George and Karen King
